Whither the speculators? They were this summer's front-page news, the subject of congressional hearings, editorials and nightly newscasts. The claimed culprits of oil's price rise, everyone fell over themselves to be tougher on them.
Alas, nothing disappears as fast as a perceived invalidation of the law of supply and demand. Eventually the two reconcile into accepted parameters, and nothing is less newsworthy than the conventional.

Blame speculators and flippers?

Are the ‘investors’ and flippers to blame for high prices and poor affordability? It’s tempting to point the finger at the scumbags. However, the solution to poor affordability does not lie here.
There will always be hyenas and jackals. Superior urban planning is needed to preserve affordability.
Affordability is a dynamic issue. Building upwards helps. Condos are more affordable, but they are also smaller than SFH. What’s the obvious response?
Families will try to move out into the suburbs like...
