Why are soaps called soaps?
Asked on: 07 Oct 2008
Hi everyone!
I was wondering: Why are soaps called soaps? ... and do/did you know why they were called this?
I have never known, but also been slightly curious about it.
So if anyone knows please enlighten me, and anyone else who may not know

Why Do Primetime Soaps Get Better Ratings than Daytime Soaps?
Asked on: 10 Dec 2008
I have been wondering about this for about a year, and i think the answer is pretty simple. The writing! Daytime Soaps used to be known for its awesome writing, and Daytime Soaps used to be one of the best genre's on television, but not anymore. Now it seems as though Primetime Soaps get all of the attention. I have noticed that Primetime shows have usually stick true with history of the shows, and characters, but Daytime shows are the ones who is forgetting about the shows history, the shows ve...

Why no tallow based soaps?
Asked on: 27 May 2008
I really, really like tallow based soaps. They work so much better for me than glycerin and vegetable oil based soaps. This means that I am pretty much limited to Tabac & Speick. (MWF gets mentioned sometimes but is hard to find) While I LOVE both of those soaps, I do get bored with them from time to time and would love more options. The big question is why do none of our resident soap makers produce tallow based soaps? None from QED, mamabear, honeybee, SCS, etc. Why? Are they just too difficul...

Is Art of Shaving the King of Tallow soaps?
Asked on: 22 Dec 2008
So, I have been wondering if there is a tallow soap out there anymore that is a better product than the soaps from AOS. I have personally been using soaps for over a half of a century, and there are few that I have not used. AOS has one of the best that I have ever has the pleasure of using.
I also here people saying alot that AOS is made in Genoa, Italy by Valobra. Besides them being very close in ingredients, is there any actual evidence of this being true?

Favorite fragranced bath soaps?
Asked on: 27 Sep 2008
In the past, I avoided scented soaps. Occasionally, they would irritate my sensitive skin and make me itchy.
However, my friend started making some soaps with essential oils and gave me some as a gift. I got hooked on them and have been buying them from her ever since, even after she moved out-of-state.
She has very nice blends, her soaps are moisturizing, and they don't seem to interfere with my fragrances. So if anyone is interested, here's the website for her company, Soaps of Mother Earth:

Soaps for sensitive skin?
Asked on: 20 Nov 2008
Hi all,
I'd like to get some recommendations, as I've been getting irritation with the C+E Nomad and Sienna soaps. I love the scents of these soaps, but my skin is just too damned sensitive! I'm going to keep trying them, and hope that maybe I just need improvement with my shaving technique and it will get better. But if ya'll have some other ideas for me, I'd be much obliged.
Thanks!
