Good Soap/Bad Soap?   Asked on: 17 Oct 2006
Being new and inquisitive, I've learned that glycerin soaps are good, as are shea butter. What other types of soaps might be okay to buy?

Can I use bath soap as shaving soap?   Asked on: 18 Mar 2008
Ok, I don't know a thing about shaving soaps and have this trumper almond oil soap from the sample pack. I know I am sounding cheap here, but has anybody experimented with bath or hand soaps? Can I try this milling thing with it and shave or I will just destroy the soap and my skin? Cheers Panos

When building up lather on a soap, how do you keep the bristles on the soap...   Asked on: 15 Sep 2008
I keep making a mess using the wooden bowl. The bristles will ride over the edge and build lather when I'm still loading the soap. How do I evenly load the brush?

New Vintage Blades soap = T&H Luxury Soap?   Asked on: 13 Dec 2008
This similarities of these two soaps was raised on another forum a few weeks ago. As a result, I decided to do a direct comparison between the T&H and Vintage Blades soaps over the coming week. I intend to use the T&H soap Sat, Sun and Monday. I will then use the VB soap the next 3 days. Each day I will use a 38C, Feather blade and Rooney 1/2 Finest brush. I will post my impressions late next week. I did a test lathering of each last and night and took some photos. It should be noted when viewin...

Mixing glycerin/glycerin soap into a tallow soap?   Asked on: 18 Dec 2008
Used Arko for a couple of months now, and the only problem I have with it is that I've found it drying. The scent is just the kind of bracing I like to wake up to in the morning though, so I'd like to see if I can just modify the content. Glycerin soaps I've used (Van der Haagen is the only one I remember right now) seem to be pretty moisturizing, and I thought mixing a lightly scented glycerin soap (or soap-base glycerin from Michael's) could help with that. Not sure if mixing a glycerin soap's...

If soaps die, what happens to soap actors?   Asked on: 11 Dec 2008
While soaps have often been a springboard for some of our biggest movie stars (Christopher Reeve, Julianna Moore, Meg Ryan, Leonardo DiCaprio, to name a few) others found their niche in daytime and have spent their careers, sometimes for decades, doing mostly that. If soaps go the way of the dinosaurs, what happens to the lifelong soap actors now in their fifties (Melody Thomas Scott, Walt Wiley), sixties (Susan Lucci, Eric Braeden, Erika Slezak, Anthony Geary, Robin Strasser), seventies (David...

Is a bar of soap okay to carry-on?   Asked on: 09 Apr 2007
Is a normal size bar of soap okay to carry-on in April 2007? I've been to the TSA web site, and I see the silly 3-oz. restrictions on toothpaste, shampoo, and even "liquid soaps", but I see no mention of a plane old bar of soap. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtrav...ted-items.shtm Hotel bars of soap are small, and if they're the wrong brand then they might irritate my skin. I like my soap. Will I be suspected as a terrorist if I try to carry-on soap?
