Simplest way to update the simplest website?   Asked on: 02 Jan 2009
What is the most dead-simple way for a non-technical person to update a single-serving website? The website is one page, and consists of one word that's either yes or no. Is there something I can set up that will allow a user to change from YES to NO via texting from their cell phone, or by sending an email? Third best would be going to a second URL and doing something very very easy to flip from yes to no. I haven't made the site yet, so I'm open to platforms.

What's the simplest way for me to grab a daily digest of my twitter output...   Asked on: 29 Oct 2008
What's the simplest way for me to grab a daily digest of my twitter output? I'm planning to do a bunch of writing via twitter next month, and I'd like to be able to easily grab my output on a regular output -- once a day, probably. I'm aware of TweetDumpr but had no luck with a test run (other reservations aside). The idea -- export data as CSV -- is more or less exactly what I'd want, though. Being able to deal with the data in a parsed-out manner is definitely key. Are there other existing sol...

Simplest security level for a secure wireless network?   Asked on: 26 Jan 2008
I am helping a friend set up his (first time ever) wireless network, and since I last did something like this three years ago "thangs have changed..." Like, there are a lot more security options to choose from when I log into the router and go to enable wireless security. What is the simplest level of security I can set up for him?  His router is a new Linksys that was bought two weeks ago. There are a half dozen other wireless networks around him in his neighborhood.  Mainly, all he needs is so...

What's the simplest way to make tranasparent objects?   Asked on: 16 Nov 2006
Hello guys, here I go again with more stupid "beginner" questions.: what's the most simple way for me to make an object render semi-transparent? So far I managed to do this fairly easy by adding an opacity map to the object's material directly in 3dS MAX. I tweaked a little the "OGRE Material Parameters" until I got the desired results. But obviously this tehnique it's not the most elegant one. Anyways, the good thing is that I don't need to change the transparency at runtime... I would apreciat...

Simplest on/off Infrared remote solution?   Asked on: 01 Feb 2008
I have an Ideal Lume bias light on the back of my plasma. I would like to be able to add this device to my Harmony 720 and use it in some activities. All need is to be able to turn it off/on. I have an APC H15 power conditioner in my home theater that I'd ideally like to plug whatever solution I need into the back of so it's hidden. I do however have 1 outlet available (my APC is plugged into it too) on the wall next to my home theater - although I'd prefer to not use it (just to keep things as...

simplest b/w television circuit?   Asked on: 26 Nov 2008
Hi there, I'm looking for a (very) old b/w TV schematic with the lowest component count that people can think of. I don't mean strictly, obviously, but fewest valves would be a good start. I am not thinking of making one from scratch, but by 'reading' more of the early circuits, I hope to build up to understanding later refinements in small helpings. I'm okay with the sound receiver and line output stages. If anyone has something that's in a form suitable to attach as a .jpg or simple gif, that...
