Is Shaving Soap is better Shaving Cream?

HI,
I'm curious about the Shaving Soap that I would like buy some day.
Does Shaving Soap is better to use than Shaving Cream? Yes o No?
the Shaving cream is more like thick smooth cream. The Soap is like light soft creamy, right? I'm not very good explaing what is soap and cream. can you help me?
I do have Sandlewood shaving cream in a jar from The Art of Shaving. I really do like the Scent very much. Wich one is better The Soap or cream? and Why?

Question: What is the difference between shaving oil and pre-shave oil?

As per the title. I keep reading that shaving oil is for use on its own and pre-shave oil is for use under shave cream. This doesn't answer the question, what makes them different considering they have similar ingredients.
Also, does any one know which pre-shave oils are good and available in Australia?

How many shaves from a QED shaving stick?

Would any one venture a guesstimate on how many shaves they get out of a QED shaving stick. I'm plannng a 4-5 month trip and these sticks sound like a great travel solution. I'm wondering how many sticks I can tell my wife that I need
