Backhand Serve or Forehand Serve?
Asked on: 26 Nov 2008
Hey. I've been playing badminton for a while now and am confident to call myself an intermediate player. All the other intermediate players I play with usually do a backhand serve rather than a forehand.
I believe that the backhand serve has this main advantage:
-It's easier to keep the shuttle as close to the net as possible since your raise the racket above your waist, making the racket and shuttle closer to the top of the net. This way, there is less of an arch in the shuttle's projectile mot...

Shouldn't you learn a kick serve first? Or a slice?
Asked on: 12 Oct 2008
I ask this because, if you learn the flat serve first, where do you go on your second serve? A high risk second serve just asking for doubles? With a kick serve, you can have a weak first serve, but consistent and reliable first serve along with the second. The same goes for the slice?
The players in the nineties almost never hit flat serves, so why learn it first?
(By Kick, I mean topspin, and by slice, I mean slice serve, not a slice groundstroke)

S-serve not just for serves?
Asked on: 05 Dec 2002
I know its been said that the S-serve (sidek/snake serve) is only effective with feathers, and i have never seen it done before, until today, kind of! This was with a nylon bird, by the way.
I was returning a smash with a short return (a drop?) I'm not sure what I did, i think i might have sliced it. The bird on its way back started going straight, then veered left by an entire foot, than turned right instead, and ended up more right than the begenning by a few inches. Basically, it moved left b...

Do you serve your meals in serving dishes?
Asked on: 27 Oct 2008
Or just put the whole pot on the table?
I have 10minutes while supper is cooking, and thought of this - figured - hey! Why not use that high speed and post it while I'm thinking of it!
Do you put your food into serving dishes and put those on the table, or do you put the cooking pot on the table, do you serve up each dish at the counter....what do YOU do?
My parents always just put the whole pot on the table. Up til recently I've served up the plates at the counter and carried them to the table-...

Topspin Slice for 2nd serve?? Why or why not?
Asked on: 13 Dec 2008
I'm just wondering why people dont use this serve for a 2nd serve instead of a kick? Cant you put alot of topspin on this serve and still get some action off the bounce? I dont know, it seems like this maybe would work pretty well for a 2nd serve. I really dont use this serve but Im curious. It seems like an under-rated serve to me, but what do I know lol.
All discussion on this topic is welcome
Thx

What is the best way to attack a kick serve?
Asked on: 08 Dec 2008
3.0- level, I've been told the individual I am playing has a really good kick serve, beyond the 3.0- level.
Generally speaking, how do you attack a kick serve?
