I know they're both correct, and I apologize if this is an old argument on AW. I haven't seen it, but it's possible.
Anywho--
I think authors would likely fight to the death on this issue. Which is slightly silly to me, since there seems to be no discernible difference except perhaps to literary elites.

In writing, I'm aware that when using pronouns like "he" "she" and "they", that they will come before "said". ("He/she/they said" sounds better than "said he/she/they")
However, when using proper nouns (Eragon, Murtagh, Gilderoy), which comes first? Said or the proper noun?
I grabbed a few books off my shelf (HP5, Uncle Tom's Cabin, The Hobbit) and looked closer at this. Most of the time, said came before a proper noun.
