Cannot get root display. Is X11 running and is your DISPLAY variable set?...

After a fresh install of hardy, updated vga driver using envy, installed latest XBMC via PPA (SVN), when I try to launch xbmc, I get the following error message:
Cannot get root display. Is X11 running and is your DISPLAY variable set?
CRITSEC[0x8bb5184]: Trying to enter destroyed section.
CRITSEC[0x8bb5184]: Some other thread trying to leave our critical section.
I have no idea, where I did it wrong. Does anybody have?

How do I display the time on the front display?

Hello. I got a new Nokia 6102 from Cingular because the radio broke, but with this new phone, the time is not displayed in the top right corner of the main screen. How do I put it there? I use my cell phone as my watch and need it there. Please help. Thanks.

To Display or Not Display?

As most of you already know, I'm a new consultant of 1 month. So far I've kept my product packed in the boxes and only take them out for shows but I'm starting to think if I really need to keep them packed away or should I take them out and display them in my home between shows?? What does everyone else do?

Inspiron 1150 display dim/dark Backlight? Display? Inverter?

My niece's laptop computer, a Dell Inspiron 1150, no longer has a
bright display. She says she can barely see the screen, after
initially seeing the Dell logo clearly with a new reddish pink hue to
it when the computer first boots. The pinkish hue goes away quickly
though and she's left with a darkened desktop on her display.
I've got her going again(long distance by phone) with an external
monitor(using the Fn-F8 key combo), but am trying to get a grip on
prices of new parts. Since she can make...

A simple Java program - how to change the possition display?

hi i was trying out a simple program using loops displaying the "*" sign
line by line with space after each line.
however, i would like to try displaying the output in the other way instead
but not sure how ... Can anyone guide me and pin point it to me?
And i wonder why my blank space line some are so wide apart and some

How do i display RSS feeds in my php page?

Hi All,
I have suscribed to some rss feeds and can view in windows live mail but how do i get my website to display the rss feeds?
here is one of the feeds url

i know very little about rss,
i will also be calling these feeds from a database, so depending on which page is loaded the relivant feed is shown.
