Alternative to community builder?

I'm looking for a forum, pms and profile creator etc etc all built in, is there a alternative?

I've joined with one of blog community. And I think it's interenting for me. But I'm still confused about the opinion that blog community can increase our traffic. Is it right?

Which online community book?

I would like to buy a book on online communities. I am considering 'Community Building on the Web' by Amy Jo Kim or 'Design for Community' by Derek M. Powazek.
Has anyone read these, are they any good? or is there something out there that's better?

Where is the blender community concentrated? And tutorials?

In the benefits of blender thread, people keep saying that the community is one of its strong points. I just wanted to ask where is the blender community concentrated? Is it at the blenderartists.org forum, somewhere else, or multiple places? Where is THE place to go for community help, assistance, and discussion on blender?
As a side question, where can you find the best aggregation/listing of blender tutorials?

What Makes A Good Community Topic?

Alright, so as of late I have been seeing many 'community' topics that, in my opinion, have brought little or no community value and have offered limited potential for discussion among GMC members. Many topics seem dull, and don't really have much point. People seem to think that coming up with a random topic and typing 'What are your opinions on it?', 'Discuss' or 'What do you think about this?' make it valuable to the community.
So, what exactly is a good community topic?
