can i use the ping command from the command prompt of windows?
Asked on: 21 Nov 2008
I am trying to use the ping command from the windows command prompt. Do i need the ip address of a particular site, or can i just enter this command?
ping>www.coke.com, or did I do it wrong altogether. I am not to familar with scripting so I think that is where my problem is at. I am trying to see if I can ping to this site, and see how long did it take for me connect to it. PrintDiggEmaildel.icio.usBlogmore...

SH3 Commander - SH4 Commander?
Asked on: 24 Nov 2008
I really like the SH3 Commander programme and as Realjambo says I never leave port without it, in fact using it has weaned me back onto SH3 away from SH4.
However is there or will there be an SH4 Commander as it would enhance my enjoyment?
Can anyone advise me?
Regards,
Derek

enhancement request: Suppressing the REST command?
Asked on: 10 Jan 2005
I have recently purchased a linux based PDA called the Yopy (http://www.yopypda.co.uk/) and jolly clever it is too. However I have had some bother transferring files with Filezilla.
The ftp server in the Yopy does not support resumption. If a file transfer fails I cannot try it again, as Filezilla uses REST instead of STOR and all I get is a complaint in the log window (cool- it's in red) on Filezilla.
I've tried using the 'reset status' command in the queue window, or deleting the queue all ove...

How does one execute multiple line terminal commands using Java?
Asked on: 16 Dec 2008
Hi,
I am working on calling a System shutdown from Java. The method I have written looks like this:
public void shutdown(){ try{ Process child = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("shutdown -h now"); } catch(Exception x){ } }
This works just fine as long as I run the application as root. I would like to circumvent having to do this. Adding the "sudo" command to the string argument passed to exec() causes the system to prompt for the root password. I have tried several ways to send the password including...

VM Command Object - Dynamically-Added VM Commands?
Asked on: 25 Dec 2004
Oscar,
Is there any reason why VM Command Objects have dynamically-added VM commands? Although they do occupy space in the VMGM/VTSM, they're surely not menus that need to be tracked, are they?
Also, there's a bit of a discrepancy. Under "Custom POST Commands" is the message "This type of object never runs POST command". But that doesn't stop DLP from inserting its own Post commands which, of course, are never executed!
