Clergy and laity ... or is it Laity and clergy?
Asked on: 04 Jul 2008
I believe it was that great Baptist Carlyle Marney who I first heard say that all Christians are ministers and that in reality we are all laity.
Today I was indexing an article in the Journal of European Baptist Studies and ran across the following Quote: by the author of the article, Mark Pierson. Mark has been a Baptist minister for over 20 years and currently serves in the Cityside Baptist Church in Auckland, New Zealand.
I am curious if you folk agree or disagree and why.

As Clergy, are we supposed to be perfect?
Asked on: 30 Jun 2008
It has been mentioned to me in one way or another that I should not have emotions or feelings about things because I am a chaplain. I thought I would ask what the perception is, and also supply my personal answer to the thought.
Do people somehow think that because I am a chaplain I should be perfect, or somehow better than you?
The only person who was ever perfect was Christ Himself, so, why would anyone expect me to be perfect? If I were perfect they would not call me Chaplain, they would call...

Lastly I ran across this

Which states the GOA bishop of New England is forbidding concelebrations with OCA clergy. Is that for real?
As far as I can tell, given that His Eminence METHODIOS is not my hierarch and therefore I am not in direct communication with him...yes, it appears to be real.

The Church is not comprised of the clergy alone or the laity alone, but both clergy and laity working together for the building up of the body of Christ.
Q “As a priest, I am concerned that increasing lay involvement in the work of the Orthodox Church might disempower the clergy. Is this a valid concern?”

Are bogus clergy coming your way?
Asked on: 23 Jun 2005
With the pending union between ROCOR and MP, I suspect that there will be a migration of clergy to and fro. At the same time, I fear that some bogus clergy ranging from pseudo-readers to bishops will see this as an opportunity to get 'official' and/or canonical status. It seems all too easy for some unscrupulous person to get into a canonical church through an open window in the back yard. This has happened. Does it mean that a person who is from bogus orders can have them recognized simply...

Are Baptist leaders doing enough about clergy sex-abuse revelations?
By Hannah Elliott
Published: December 7, 2006
DALLAS (ABP) -- Recent sex scandals among Catholic and evangelical leaders are prompting renewed calls for action against clergy sexual abuse. But with research indicating such abuse is more prevalent among clergy -- including Baptists -- than other counseling professionals, abuse-victim advocates are asking if enough is being done.

A mediating priesthood of exalted ordained clergy? Needed?
Asked on: 20 Nov 2008
I just wanted to throw this out here (this is something I was reading about and completely agree with), to better understand why the Catholic, Orthodox, and Anglican churches use a sacerdotal system: A mediating priesthood of exalted ordained clergy.
Sacerdotalism is the belief that priests are essential mediators between God and man. The word sacerdotal comes from the Latin word for “priest” and literally means “to make sacred.” Catholic, Orthodox, and Anglican forms of worship are sacerdotal....
