New Zealand has clean air. How clean is it?

It's so clean ... How clean is it? ... it's so-o-o-o-o clean ... How clean is it? ...
It's so clean, so much cleaner than it has to be, that you can pay them for the right to dirty up your own neighborhood.
The auction has begun, so get on it. (trademe.co.nz)
I wonder if someone could set up something like this for stuff other than CO2?
Say for instance for e. coli levels, so Lake Michigan beaches could stay open more often? The lack of a rational explanation is not evidence for an irrational ex...

How clean is too clean?
Asked on: 10 Oct 2008
So I had my new pressure washer out yesterday, cleaning my vinyl siding, and my wife says in the manual that you can clean your grills with it. I said that I didn't want to, because I had a built up a layer on the 'grill'/ grating/racks that prevented rust. Even though my smoker's racks are coated in porcelain, I stopped cleaning my plain metal ones long ago, because I didn't like the rust that grew on clean metal. (I do wipe them down before the next smoker session, though.)
So what does everyo...

How much pre-cleaning do you do for your cleaning person?
Asked on: 14 Aug 2008
Just wondering...how much cleaning do you do before your cleaning person/company does a clean? We used to have one but canceled because her work was starting to go downhill a bit, we ended up not finding a new place and house cleaning is not a strength needless to say. One thing I found was happening with our old person though, was the fact that we spent HOURS pre-cleaning before she arrived. Picking up toys, so she could vaccuum. Making sure NOTHING was on the kitchen counters so she could scru...

If she cleaned up where are the cleaning supplies?

To steam clean or not to steam clean?

I was told that if you leave the engine running while the cleaning is being done, I shouldnt experience any problems?
I have EFI installed in the car, which may not help matters...
What are your views/experiences?
Should I go for it or do I have to painstakingly use a damp sponge and do a bit at a time
Also, what is exactly steam cleaning, a local car wash firm near me say they do steam cleaning. When i watched someone elses car being done, it seemed as if it ws just the jet hose .. no different...

To clean or not to clean?
Asked on: 03 Dec 2008
Just got an '85 mahoghany Deering Basic Special 5 string banjo that has led a very active life as a pro pickers axe. The arm rest and the tail piece are rusted big time so I'm replacing them. The head looks pretty beat up so I'm replacing that too. I've cleaned the neck and fretboard removing some nasty black sticky goo but now I'm contemplating cleaning the rest of the metal parts which look very dirty but kinda retro cool in a way too. Question is: should I take the whole banjo apart and scrub...

Fish cleaning stations: Clean?
Asked on: 08 Mar 2007
Most fish-cleaning stations appear pretty clean, with a hose and fresh water right there, fishermen spraying them off regularly.
I have often wondered however, when I remember back to college microbiology, just how clean they are. Bacteria are not visible, and leave toxins that you cannot see either. I can remember being extremely careful with halibut, lots of rinsing, only to have the fish not smell that great later.
Does anyone bring a container of bleach and soak the table before filleting? I...

A really self-cleaning cat box?
Asked on: 23 Sep 2008
I have one of those so-called self-cleaning cat boxes too, and find the actual cleaning just as disgusting as Molly. I am tempted to buy a REALLY self-cleaning box from Cat Genie, if I can come up with the bucks. The problem is they have a "smart chip" in the cleaning cartridge that kills the self-cleaning feature after a finite number of flushes.
