Now that Vista is supported, Vista or XP?
Asked on: 29 Mar 2007
Hi,
Assuming you didn't own either Windows OS, which one would you buy today now that both are supported in Boot Camp: Vista or XP?
I've read here that Vista is very intensive to run, and XP is relatively more efficient. However, I would imagine that Vista is more future-leaning.
So if you didn't own either one, which would you buy today to run on a Macbook?
Thanks.
P.S. If your answer is Vista, which version?

Vista x64: Can I install ffdshow (x64) or do I need "Vista Codec Components...
Asked on: 15 Dec 2008
I've just installed Vista x64 and I'm a little confused on how to get ffdshow working (64bit version).
If I just install clsid's latest ffdshow x64 then it doesn't work. Even if I switch media player to 64-bit (eg. unregmp2.exe /SwapTo: 64, or something) then it still doesn't work.
Do I need to install this thing called "Vista x64 Codec Components" (or whatever it's called?). Really I want is ffdshow (64-bit) to work...
Also, does the Haali Media Splitter work? It doesn't seem to work at all in...

Can I use the Vista Ultimate DVD to install Vista Home Basic?
Asked on: 15 Oct 2008
G'morning all,
I have a laptop with Home Basic on it that I want to reformat it but my dad has no idea where any of the CDs that came with it are. Can I use my 32-bit Vista Ultimate CD to reformat and install Home Basic? I'm pretty sure I can but most Google results are for upgrading Vista, not downgrading it (which isn't what I'm doing, technically).
Thanks for looking.

How to dual-boot Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit on 1 drive?
Asked on: 22 Nov 2008
I have a Sony Vaio which comes preinstalled with Vista 32-bit and a lot of Sony software I don't need. Like many others, I want to install Vista 64-bit. But for the moment I prefer to keep the Sony Vista 32-bit alongside, until I have worked out everything.
Now after a lot of trial and error I finally achieved the following layout on my single disk:
primary partition 1: Vista 64-bit (newly installed by me) primary partition 2: Vista 32-bit (Sony's work) primary partition 3: Windows XP (32-bit, a...
