State hospitals not for tourists?
Asked on: 14 Aug 2006
I just wonder if tourists (= No Kela card/social id) can go to state hospitals for treatment by paying full fees.
Or state hospitals doesn't treat anyone without social security id/kela card?
I tried to call them but didn't get any clear answer.

How safe are tourists?
Asked on: 02 Jul 2005
I've heard that tourists are hit pretty hard in Rome. Between stealing things from you, ripping you off at restaurants, cabbies etc. it doesn't appear Rome is a very safe place to walk wround alone in. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I have a pretty expensive camera I don't want to have to be afraid to use.

Half-Naked Non-Muslim Tourists: Are They Truly Crazy?
Asked on: 22 Aug 2008
I'd like to hear Muslim and non-Muslim thoughts about this...
While visiting several Muslim-majority countries, I've noticed that you eventually come across non-Muslim tourists, usually women, who are dressed very, very immodestly, even by non-Muslim standards.
After seeing such a tourist in Kuala Lumpur, I asked a non-Muslim Malaysian Chinese woman what she and other Malaysians thought about that kind of behavior, and she said, "We just think that it's the way white people behave. It really doe...

What do tourists really want to know about a city?
Asked on: 18 Feb 2006
A friend of mine wants to help the city of Turin make an audio guide for tourists. He thinks they want a lot of history explained and every statue and building told about in detail. I personally don't think tourists have that much time to listen to a couple of hours of (maybe boring) descriptions. I think most people want to know a little about the buildings such as date it was built, style, what it was originally and what it is now. They also want to know if its open to the public and worth see...

Vancouver Renfrew Heights - is it for explorers or tourists?
Asked on: 16 Jul 2008
Hi,
We'll be visiting Vancouver for 5 days and have 2 lodging options, Renfrew Heights and downtown Vancouver. We're thinking of staying in Renfrew Heights but unsure how far and how convenient it is to explore Vancouver/downtown/yaletown/chinatown, etc...
We are two travelers in our 30s, love to explore new cities and outdoors. Not into touristy things but don't want to miss the highlights.
Any advice is appreciated.

The rudest tourists?
Asked on: 06 Feb 2007
As many as 23% of overseas hotel and catering staff thought the Germans were the rudest customers they had encountered, according to a survey by Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine.
The British came a close second with 22% of the vote. Then the Americans and French were considered the next rudest nations, each with 18% of the votes, followed by the Italians with 17%.
Would people agree with this, or would you put another nation as even ruder? Or, on a more positive note, which nationality have you...

Friends have mentioned that being thanksgiving weekend this may have an effect on attractions being open etc.
I would be gratefull for your advice/experiences on whether visiting NYC is a good idea for this weekend.
I could come on the 30th but I am looking at approx $200 more and I am on a pretty tight bud...
