Reaction of 2-bromobutane with NaI/acetone?
Asked on: 02 Nov 2008
Can someone help me write a balanced reaction equation for the reaction of 2-bromobutane with NaI/acetone?
Is Sn1(substitution, unimolecular) or Sn2(substitution, bimolecular) mechanism used for this reaction??

KC Reaction sunglasses - the only KC Reaction product worth buying?
Asked on: 04 Jan 2009
Yeah I know, KC Reaction is terrible yadayada but their sunglasses are a steal.
I bought some KC Reaction aviators for $10 and they're surprisingly good. I picked up another pair in a different style today. Cheap enough that I don't care if they get scratched or smashed or lost/stolen.
Anyone else want to share poor brands that put out one particular good product that flies under the radar?

Lewis acid catalyzed reactions- how to get rid of the lewis acid afterwards...
Asked on: 02 Mar 2008
Hello,
I have been doing Diels-Alders cycloadditions with various Lewis Acids, but I don't have a real idea about how to treat the reaction mixture after the reaction to isolate the cycloadduct. Is column chromatography enough to get rid of the Lewis acid or do it stay attached to the oxygen even after?

What are the Gatterman-Koch reaction Conditions?
Asked on: 27 Jan 2007
We can synthesis benzaldehyde using CO and Lewis acids. However, the reaction conditions are not known clearly. What must be the pressure and temperature approximately to make a Gatterman-Koch reaction?
