What Are The People Who Predicted the Financial Crisis Predicting Now?
Asked on: 10 Dec 2008
There are only a handful of people who predicted this financial crisis, or at least its severity.
What are they predicting now?
Peter Schiff and Ron Paul
Schiff, the manager of over $1 billion dollars in investments, says the U.S. will enter a long period which could be worse than the Great Depression.
Schiff also thinks that the economic crisis might lead to martial law.
He thinks that Asia and Europe, after a period of economic downturn, will "decouple" from the U.S., eventually enjoying great...

a programme for predicting H-NMR spectra?
Asked on: 16 May 2005
I am looking for a programme for predicting H-NMR spectra (something freeware or shareware).
You know, the kind of programme where you draw a molecule and it gives you an example of how a real spectrum may be.
I know there is such a programme called ACD-NMR (or something like that)...but unfortunately I think it is not for free.
Thank you very much.

Will This Recession Be As Deep As Some People Are Predicting?
Asked on: 29 Nov 2008
There have been some really gloomy predictions about the depth of this recession on the main forum of late. I have just read on the HPC news blog that retail sales in Princes Street (Edinburgh) are up on this time last year! It is sometimes forgotten that the British are congenital spendaholics and they may just save the UK economy from completely falling off a cliff.
Incidentally, when Gordon Brown keeps referring to the fact that the UK is better placed to withstand the effects of this downtur...

Formula for predicting output file size?
Asked on: 22 Dec 2008
I know someone posted this somewhere in response to me, but as usual, I cannot remember it nor find it....
It had to do with how many seconds of video with the desired frame size correlated to something or another.
Can I trouble someone to post it up again?
Also, if a video file sharing site can handle up to a 1 gig HD video, and the kbps can be adjusted so the output video is that size, isn't there a kbps limit at some point where people's machines can't handle it?
Thanks

Why was Jesus constantly predicting his own death?

YUSUFALI: That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- So does this mean the Islamic Jesus was a false prophet?
Prophet's predictions are supposed to come true. If they don't come to pass then they are fal...

Gold Once Again Predicting A Meltdown?
Asked on: 14 Dec 2008
We noticed it last fall.
The price of gold spiked up over $500 an ounce and rose to $800, then $900, then $1,000.
All of this happened before any of the major collapses, and before the media would even acknowledge the possibility of a recession.
Why did gold serve as a predictive mechanism?
Probably because the market makers and movers in gold know more than most people about economic conditions.
This is a fascinating discussion of its own, but lets look at something more relevant, and more dist...

Cat's "Sixth Sense" Predicting Death?
Asked on: 26 Jul 2007
Predicting the death of a patient, even an elderly, demented one, is an inexact science, even for a doctor with decades of medical experience.
But a cat in a Providence, R.I., nursing home, an animal shelter refugee named Oscar, seems to have a sixth sense about when residents in the home's advanced dementia unit are about to pass away. And his actions can sometimes
help alert the staff to notify family members in time for them to get to the nursing home to tell their loved ones goodbye.
When he...
